How to organise running and strength training in THRYV
A running plan and a strength plan both need space in your week. THRYV supports a primary and a secondary activity so you can keep both plans in view and check what you have committed to.
Open Training Plans in the Move hub and choose Create. In Move Setup, choose Running and Strength, set which activity comes first, and review each plan’s days and setup before saving. Return to My Plans to follow the sessions.
Before you start
Training plans require an account with Move or Pro access. Add Running and Strength to your available activities, and check the equipment you can use. The available plan options depend on your activities, level and app version.
Step by step
Decide what the week can hold
Before creating plans, list the days and time you actually have. Include existing runs, gym sessions and days you want to leave free. Choose the activity that matters most to your current goal as your primary activity; the second activity should fit around that commitment.
Choose Running and Strength in Move Setup
In the Move hub, open Training Plans and choose Create. Move Setup allows up to two activities, a primary and a secondary. Select Running and Strength in the order you intend. If an activity is missing, use Change Settings or Choose Activities to make it available.
Worth checking If you already have an active plan, read the Keep Current Plan and Abandon Plan options carefully. Creating a new plan is not a reason to discard one you still want to follow.
Set the plan options and equipment honestly
Choose the level and available plan options that match your current starting point. For strength, check your equipment setup: a home session with dumbbells has different options from a full gym. Complete any equipment prompt before continuing to plan setup.
Review both sets of training days
In plan setup, review the training days, start week and duration for each activity. Running setup also asks for a Long Run Day from the selected days. Look at the combined commitments before confirming: each activity has its own sessions, and you remain responsible for choosing a workable week.
Worth checking Do not read the number of sessions in one plan as the total for both. Count the running and strength commitments together, including any workouts you do outside THRYV.
Use My Plans as your next-session check
Return to Training Plans to see My Plans. The Current tab shows active and paused plans; open a plan to review its weeks and sessions. Check the planned workout before you start, then use your completed training and the next week’s real availability to decide what you can keep doing.
A shared view still needs your judgement
Keeping two plans in one place makes the commitments easier to review. It does not mean every pair of plans, session counts or combination of days will suit every person. Check the actual workouts and the time they require before deciding your week is realistic.
Treat a pace target, a distance estimate and an estimated one-rep max as planning information. They do not account for the route conditions, how you feel today or all the work in another session. You can use the free tools below without a THRYV account.
An everyday example
When work changes your usual routine
Your running plan and strength plan are already saved, but next week includes an evening away and a longer commute. Open both plans and review the sessions before filling the remaining gaps. The useful question is whether the whole week fits, including the commitments outside the app.
Common questions
Can THRYV hold running and strength plans together?
Yes. Move Setup supports a primary and a secondary activity. My Plans can show the resulting running and strength plans together, with each plan’s own weeks, sessions and progress.
Does choosing two activities mean I should do every session from both?
Review the combined schedule before committing. Each activity has its own plan, and the number of sessions in one plan is not the total across both. Choose a workload and routine that are appropriate for you.
Do I need a subscription for training plans?
Training plans require an account with Move or Pro access. Move Setup also offers Record As You Go when you want to skip a training plan.
Where do I find my running and strength plans?
Open Training Plans in the Move hub. My Plans has Current and Completed tabs. Current includes active and paused plans; open a plan to review its sessions.
